Jamar Mackey, the VA Beach cops mistakenly detained in a mall, saying he was tested positive for COVID-19 … and he blames the maskless officers who handcuffed him.
Jamar’s outrageous meeting with police on Dec. 19 caused national uproar as VA Beach PD arrested the wrong man in a clear case of racial profiling. At the time, Jamar and his fiancée told TMZ they were angry – not just for the humiliation and alleged profiling – but because the officers were not wearing masks.

Jamar en Shantel Covil tells us that they take the pandemic and quarantine very seriously because he owns a disinfection business, and she has a home health business. They both test regularly, and he says he got his positive test result on December 22 – just three days after the incident – he is therefore convinced that it was the cause of his infection.
On the question of whether the officers concerned have the coronavirus – VBPD says that they can not comment due to the privacy laws.
So far, Shantel has tested negative, but Jamar tells us that they are most concerned about their children, including their newborn baby, contracting the virus.
Jamar and Shantel say they want VBPD make some big changes, including the firing of the maskless officer who handcuffed Jamar.
