Carson Wentz started 12 games in 2020. Jalen Hurts started the last four.
Who then starts the season opener for the Eagles in 2021?
Hurts had a diplomatic response Tuesday when he asked the question.
‘This is a wonderful question; this is a great question, ”Hurts told CBS Sports HQ via Reuben Frank of NBC Sports Philadelphia. ‘I’ll tell you I’m trying to do the job on my part and trying to build the relationship with my guys. I’m excited for this off – season, just excited to take the next step, so I challenge myself to be the best quarterback I can be. Learn from my mistakes as a team, learn personally from my mistakes of last year [in] those four games in which I got my chance next year to wet my feet and get started. ”
The Eagles may not even know who their starting quarters in 2021 will be. However, it hurts in the conversation and in the competition.
For now, all of the Hurts control could get better this season.
“One thing I do – and I have always done – is just try to maintain the right mentality,” Hurts said. “I control what I can. I have always been that way, and I will always be that way. So the most important thing I can control is my work ethic, my effort, where my head is up, the relationships I have with people around me and just building. To build as a man, to build as a player, has always been rooted in my faith. ‘
