Jalen Hurts does all the right things amid Carson Wentz drama

As for the Philadelphia Eagles, the last few weeks have been an absolute mess. It looks like the Carson Wentz era is over, and the team has been vigorously trying to find a suitable trading partner. The Bears, Colts, Broncos and several other people threw their hat in the lottery and the rumor mill is spinning faster than ever. It is understandable that Jalen is hurting in a difficult position, but this is one he handles incredibly well.

In fact, Hurts has been cool, calm and collected since he led in a controversial match between week 17 and many controversies. He never said the wrong thing or broadcast dirty laundry. He did not go to social media to cryptically tweet his emotions until he withdrew them when the pressure cooker got hot.

With the Carson Wentz situation burning brighter and brighter by the day, it would be easy for Hurts to fall into the trap of surrounding himself in the whirlwind. Who would really blame him? He’s a second – round pick who replaced the franchise QB during last season’s chaotic downfall, and it could be a role he’s soon to inherit.

Instead, Hurts went on the NFL Network and showed a playful and confident side as he reflected on his rookie season.

After that, he decided to pull his young recipients along and organize a group exercise in Texas in the coming weeks. It should come as no surprise, he did something similar with DeSean Jackson last season, while Carson Wentz and Sam Bradford have also arranged similar trips in the past. It is not the act itself that is noteworthy here, but the timing.

The whole offense is currently in a stream. Is Zach Ertz on the move? Will the Eagles set up another top game this year? Will there be a setback in the Wentz agreement? There should be an understandable sense of insecurity around the group, but Hurts decided to act as a leader, bring his teammates together and focus on what matters – Football.

Jalen Hurts’ play will be endlessly evaluated and criticized this season, but one thing that can only be praised is its maturity. Hurts is blowing through uncharted waters with a true sense of calm, radiating subtle leadership qualities and sticking the team together … exactly what a franchise QB should do.
