Degrassi: The next generation star Jahmil French has died at the age of 29.
The Canadian actor was known for playing Dave Turner in the hit series, which also features rapper Drake. His cause of death is not yet known.
Singer Christina Milian – who worked with the actor on the TV series Soundtrack – paid tribute with a comment below French’s latest Instagram post saying: ‘You will be missed. Be calm King. ‘

The celebrated actor won a nomination for the Canadian Screen Award for his role in Degrassi: The Next Generation, a Canadian television series for teens in the Degrassi universe, created in 1979 by Linda Schuyler and Kit Hood.
His co-star Melinda Shankar wrote a tribute on Twitter on Monday, saying: ‘Bhandurner forever in my heart. So grateful for memories and deep conferences with you, beautiful angel. ‘
She added: ‘Blessed to be part of a large dysfunctional family together. Thank you for sharing your gift with the world. I just hope you knew how much you loved. ‘

Chloe Rose – who played Katie Matlin in Degrassi: The Next Generation, from 2011 to 2013 – wrote on Twitter: ‘Still in shock. Jahmil will be missed. He was an integral part of the Degrassi family and definitely a big part of my degrassie days. ‘
Add: ‘He always wanted to make people laugh and smile, a real joy to be there. Rest in peace.’
The actor last posted on Instagram six weeks ago in January, where he shared a selfie of him with a smiley emoji as a caption.
