What has been reported is now official, as the Jaguars have announced that Trent Baalke will be appointed as their general manager.

Baalke serves as the club’s interim GM after Dave Caldwell was sacked in late November. He joined the team in February 2020 as director of player staff.

“Trent Baalke has achieved success at virtually every football level, especially as a general manager who has smartly and quickly built up an NFL conference championship organization and team,” Jaguars owner Shad Khan said in a statement. ‘This experience has inspired us to recruit Trent to Jacksonville a year ago to serve as our director of player staff, and that’s one of the many reasons why we have appointed Trent as the new general manager of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Trent knows the NFL and the dynamics of today’s game well, has an extraordinary eye for talent, and I know he will have excellent chemistry with Urban Meyer as head coach as they begin their mission to be a constant winner for our fans in To bring Jacksonville. ”

Baalke was previously the 49ers general manager from 2011-2016. San Francisco won the NFC in 2012, representing the conference in Super Bowl XLVII. The 49ers were 51-44-1 with Baalke as GM

“I want to thank Shad Khan for the opportunity to continue with the Jacksonville Jaguars as the general manager of the team,” Baalke said in a statement. “I’m looking forward to working with Coach Meyer and giving Jaguars fans the winner they deserve everywhere. I am confident that our shared vision will lead our team to success in 2021 and beyond. ”
