MIAMI The Jackson Health System on Wednesday began giving the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to patients aged 65 and over.
Emilio Estefan, 67, and legend Dol Moins, 69, of the Miami Dolphins received the first dose of vaccine in front of reporters at the Christine E. Lynn Rehabilitation Center for the Miami project to cure paralysis at the UHeath / Jackson Memorial.
According to Lidia Amoretti, a spokeswoman for Jackson Health System, public health care will receive 15,000 extra doses of Pfizer’s vaccine given to the elderly.
The system is also preparing to launch an online platform to allow Miami-Dade County residents 65 years and older to make appointments to receive the vaccine.
Also in Miami-Dade, the Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach offers the vaccine to seniors 75 years and older. For more information, call 305-674-2312.
