Jackson Health Extends COVID-19 Vaccine Criteria, Includes High-Risk People Without Doctor Notes

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. Jackson Health System announced Monday that it is expanding the criteria for COVID-19 vaccinations at its three sites, which include vaccinating vulnerable patients, even if they do not have a doctor’s letter.

The health system said it would effectively give the following four categories on Tuesday:

  • 65 years or older

  • 50 to 64 years old with an ID indicating that you are a school staff member at a K-12 school, a sworn police officer or a firefighter

  • 18 years or older, and confirm that your doctor recommended receiving the vaccine due to your high risk condition (no documentation required)

  • 16-17 years old, you must testify that your doctor recommended that you receive the vaccine due to your high-risk condition. No documentation or proof required. You must have a parent or guardian with you to give permission

Jackson said he will open his online dating portal at JacksonHealth.org on Monday and that people who meet the vaccination criteria can sign up for appointments starting Tuesday.

The Nicklaus Children’s Hospital announced on Friday that it is also beginning to accept the registration of vaccines from the general public for people aged 16-21, with conditions making them particularly vulnerable to COVID-19.
