Ivanka Trump criticized for calling pro-Trump mob ‘patriots’ US news

Ivanka Trump called insurgents who stormed the U.S. Capitol building “American patriots” as they urged them to refrain from violence before quickly returning to the comments.

The president’s eldest daughter and adviser said in a recent tweet, sent when protesters stormed the seat of American democracy: “American patriots – any violation of the security or contempt of our law enforcement is unacceptable. The violence must stop immediately. Please be peaceful. ”

She probably did not ask protesters to abandon their protest or abandon them to abandon their siege of the U.S. Capitol building.

Ivanka Trump asked online about her use of the term ‘patriots’ to describe the protesters – some of whom carried the separatist flag of the Confederate countries:’ No. Peaceful protest is patriotic. Violence is unacceptable and should be strongly condemned. ” She deleted the original tweet. The response remains online.

Ivanka Trump has not tweeted since.

From inside the besieged Capitol building, journalist Jake Sherman condemned Trump’s use of the term ‘patriots’. “American patriots? I’m sitting here in the lock. The capital has been violated and people are pulling guns. What are you talking about?”

April Ryan, a White House correspondent, said while Ivanka was portrayed as the ‘voice of reason’ her father advises, she was ‘complicit’ in the violence the Capitol visited.

We have always been told @IvankaTrump is going to be the “voice of reason” for her father. Instead, she is just as complicit.

Others pointed out that Trump removed the tweet as proof that it was inappropriate.

Eric Columbus, a former special defense attorney at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, called on Ivanka and Donald Trump to stop the violence.

Walk to your dad’s office and tell him to go on TV and go home for them all. Shout at him until he does. Please save some lives.

If the tweets are not removed, the account will remain closed. “Future violations of Twitter rules, including our policy on civil integrity or violent threats, will result in the permanent suspension of the @realDonaldTrump account,” the Twitter security account said.

In protests described as the biggest threat to American democracy since the civil war, Trump loyalists stormed the seat of American democracy – the Capitol building – and tried to block the certification of the presidential election held in November , a constitutional formality that allows the elected president Joe Biden to be inaugurated on January 20th.

While the rioters were temporarily able to stop the vote, the certification process resumed Wednesday night U.S. time.

One woman was killed and two others were injured in what became known as the Cold War.
