Ghosts a goblins creator Tokuro Fujiwara recently shared an impressive factoid from the development of Capcom’s zealous hard platform: Arthur’s iconic heart pattern boxers are actually covered in strawberries. Okay, maybe this is just my thoughts.

“There’s one very important detail I have to share with you that people may not know: the pattern on his underwear is actually strawberries,” Fujiwara said. Polygon. “Arthur has this air of robustness when he wears his armor, but on the inside he gets lustful and wears his favorite boxers.”

Since Ghosts a goblins First made in the arcade debut in 1985, players widely accepted that Arthur’s underwear was shaped with hearts throughout the series. But much like the White Mage’s robe in Final Fantasy III, hardware limitations probably contributed to this difference between what the developers intended and what gamers interpreted on screen.

Looking back, the tiny, red sheets on Arthur’s boxers could be just about anything, and it’s only in concept art that the strawberry pattern became clear. It certainly did not help that Capcom used a heart boxer in 2001 Maximo: Ghosts to Glory, a spiritual successor to the classic Ghosts a goblins series, and its sequel from 2003 Maximo teen Army of Zin. The hearts even made an appearance in a Dead Rising Easter egg.

Funny enough, the truth has been there for some time. Arthur’s bio in both Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 from 2011 mentions “boxer shorts with strawberry print”. They can even be seen during the game after his Golden Armor is super up, but the games are probably a little too chaotic to pay attention to something so trivial.

“However, his underwear is not just something he wants to wear,” Fujiwara explained in his statement. Polygon maintenance. ‘It was actually a gift from the princess and serves as a’ charm ‘to protect Arthur in battle. It’s probably safe to say that the strawberry design was something the princess loved. ”

Oh, and in case you were wondering, there’s no doubt that Arthur’s boxers were shaped with strawberries Ghosts’ n Goblins Resurrection, a remaster of the storybook style of the original 1985 launch on Switch on February 25th. I do not know about you, but I have taken them to heart for so long that I am not sure what to make of the truth. If you have to talk, I’m here.
