It’s complicated: the Zenith Chronomaster Sport, with the El Primero Caliber 3600

The El Primero caliber 400 is an anachronism, but an amazing one. The first high-frequency automatic chronograph movement was introduced in 1969 (along with the Seiko 6309 and the Breitling / Heuer / Buren caliber 01) and has continued surprisingly well to this day. However, the design of the movement is also a relic of its time – for example, there are a number of different screws, more than you would see in a movement designed today, that produce time, labor and cost- make intensive. Introduced by Zenith today, the Chronomaster Sport uses a new movement: the 3600 caliber, designed to reduce the number of parts, utilize modern materials and manufacturing processes, and offer enhanced functionality.
