Vince Russo shared his thoughts on the question as well as Drew McIntyre’s discussion during the latest episode of SK Wrestling’s UnSKripted with Dr Chris Featherstone.
The former WWE lead writer said Drew McIntyre deserves the name as the best world champion in wrestling. Russo explained that Drew McIntyre did everything the company expected of him, and that the Scottish Warrior worked very hard to become the face of Monday Night RAW.
‘I’ll have to say, brother, because I’m going to finish their butts carefully, okay. Drew McIntyre finished off his butt. Drew McIntyre did everything the company asked him to do. ‘

However, Russo added that mediocre creative decisions held back Drew McIntyre. Vince Russo describes the ad as ‘absolutely awful’ and states that WWE’s discussion of McIntyre’s character was the reason for his stunned rise.
“Unfortunately, the creative man, I think, was absolutely awful. There’s no reason why McIntyre could not be there as one of the greats of all time. The only thing that held him back was the discussion of the character.”
While Russo was very fond of Reigns and the work of the tribal chief at SmackDown, McIntyre’s professionalism and work ethic were extraordinary, and this introduces him to the Universal Champion.
“But this guy cracked his hump. So, I would say Drew McIntyre without a doubt. You know, Reigns does an amazing job. I like Roman Reigns, but McIntyre works his butt off.”
Vince Russo is not wrong in praising Drew McIntyre as the Superstar’s record as the WWE Champion. The Scottish Superstar was one of the faces of the business during the most challenging phase of the industry. Drew McIntyre was undoubtedly one of the most important Superstars during the pandemic era of pro wrestling, and he is still an indispensable asset on the road to WrestleMania 37.
