Players love to show off their coolest character and weapon skins in Apex Legends, and a clever concept shared on Reddit will take the game’s customization options a step further by incorporating skins for each Legend’s unique equipment.
A big part of every game is that players can customize the appearance of their characters, and Apex Legends is no different. Since its launch, Respawn has provided hundreds of weapons and Legend skins that players can use to express their sense of style in the game.
Respawn’s battle royale offers players an almost constant supply of new items to purchase for their favorite Legends. Between exclusive event matches, regular shop rotations and new battle pass items added each season, there are plenty of options for players to pick and choose from.
Although there are already many skins in the game, some fans want Respawn to take their customization offering to the next level. In a post shared to Reddit, ‘u / DimSpartanJ13’ suggests that Respawn could add a whole new category of skins for each Legend’s character-specific equipment.
Customizing equipment in Apex Legends may include items such as Bangalore’s smoke launcher.
In their post, u / DimSpartanJ13 gave some examples of what they think Respawn could do to add additional customization options for players. “Lifeline’s drone, Crypto’s drone, Revenant’s totem, Bangs’ smoke launcher, [and] Caustic’s Gas trap, ”are all known for their potential to have unique skins.
U / DimSpartanJ13 also included several images representing some of the pieces of equipment mentioned in the post. It should give players an idea of what they are seeing now, and enable them to imagine what some skins might look like when applied to the equipment.
The proposed system will be similar to what already exists in other titles, namely Overwatch. Blizzard Entertainment has a long history of giving their players obvious character sheets, and this usually applies to each hero’s unique equipment (for example, D.Va’s Tokki mech).

Although most responses to the message supported the idea, there were questions about how a system like this could affect the game. Some players were worried that problems like different skins would pop up for Lifeline’s DOC drone, which her teammates would miss if they did not pay enough attention.
Other answers provide solutions to these issues. ‘There’s no reason why Apex can not have these capabilities [equipment] velle. Overwatch does that too, ”one user pointed out. Having the equipment sheet only visible to the player using it (and their teammates) is one easy solution to avoid possible balancing problems.
Respawn has not commented on the report at this time. While this may appear to be wishful thinking at the moment, there have been leaks suggesting that Respawn is already exploring additional rarities of weapon skins so players can see a system like this implemented at some point in the future.
