It is understood that the next Dragon Age will only be single player amid other shifts at EA

The next Dragon Age game will no longer have multiplayer aspects according to a new Bloomberg report. The game, produced by EA studio BioWare, was reportedly ‘designed with a heavy multiplayer component’, but has been turned into a single-player game in recent months.

However, we have not seen much of the game since it was first announced with a short preview in December 2018, and we do not know what the multiplayer component might look like. Although the game has been going on for some time, development began in 2015, it reports Bloomberg – there is no release date for it yet, which means that it could be a trade-off and that things could change. BioWare recently showed fleeting glimpses of the game in August and December.

The change comes amid other developments that have apparently led to EA being more willing to accept a single player Dragon Age. On Wednesday, EA announced it Anthem Next, the planned reload of BioWare’s live open world shooter service National anthem, has been canceled (although EA says the game will continue “as it exists today”). And EA’s singles title Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, launched in November 2019, exceeded expectations according to sales Bloomberg.

Dragon Age has become one of BioWare’s marquee franchises due to its exciting single player campaigns. The news that the next title will not have multiplayer is probably a lot of news. In a recent interview with IGN, Laura Miele, head of studies at EA, said that the company has listened to what players want and made decisions based on the feedback.

“I asked [EA’s community leaders] to give me the best advice on how we can have a better connection with our players, ”said Miele. ‘The biggest theme was: please listen to the content that players are asking for, which led to green lighting [the new] Skate, College socks, Command & Conquer and additional content for Battlefront II. ”

According to another, EA also canceled a years-long development game codenamed “Gaia” Bloomberg report. ‘Gaia’s development was turbulent and the game underwent at least one major reload, ” Bloomberg report. If you are curious, you can take a brief look at Gaia’s early footage in this video:
