It is alleged that on iPhone 13 there is ‘refined matte back’, always visible, more

A new video today from EverythingApplePro on YouTube presents a series of rumors about what to expect on this year’s iPhone 13. The video mentions exclusive details of celebrities leak Max Weinbachand claims that the iPhone 13 will feature an always-on display, minor design tweaks and more.

There’s also a bit of fun on the Apple Watch Series 7, with the video reporting that glucose monitoring will not be ready for this year.

The video leads by saying that while overall design changes will be minimal this year, the matte back of the iPhone 13 Pro will be ‘refined’ so that it is textured and ‘more gripping’. The video explains:

‘The matte back is refined. So, in the 2021 iPhones, I’m sure Max is referring to the Pro models, they have a slightly more pleasing texture back. He says they will be slightly more comfortable and he assumes it will be like a soft mat, like in the Pixel series. ”

The video also confirms the previous announcement that the iPhone 13 Pro will have the same high refresh rate of 120Hz ProMotion screen technology as the iPad Pro. Apple will also use new LTPO technology to give the iPhone 13 Pro an always-on display, similar to what is already available on the Apple Watch.

Weinbach explains how the feature will work:

Always-on-screen will be minimally customizable. Current design basically looks like a downward lock screen. The clock and the battery are always visible. Notifications are apparently displayed with a bar and icons. Upon receipt, the notification appears normal, except that the screen will not burn completely. Instead, it will appear just like you are used to now, except muted and only temporary.

The video also claims that the iPhone 13 series will have an improved ultra wide lens, going from six pieces to five pieces. It is understood that the lens will still be ‘of lower quality’ than the other two lenses, but Apple is working to make improvements in this area. It was also previously reported by Ming-Chi Kuo.

A further enhancement of the camera with the iPhone 13 is reportedly support for Portrait Mode video, something Apple has been working on for some time. “You will be able to record a portrait video and change the depth of field in the post,” the video explains.

Other details of the video:

  • The iPhone 13 will apparently contain a stronger range of magnets for the MagSafe technology.
  • New astrophotography features: point your iPhone to the sky and switch to “astrophotography mode” when it detects stars or the moon
    • Longer exposure times, more internal processing
  • AirTags coming in March or April, software features fully rolled out
  • Apple Watch Series 7 does not support glucose monitoring
