However, it has not been so many times, including that of IGN (and me!), To share wonderful memories of how much Link, Zelda and Hyrule mean to them.
Happy 35th, The Legend of Zelda, my all time favorite game series! This overture was performed at E3 2011 during the 25th year of existence. It speaks volumes that the best game in the series was not even dreamed of at the time. Can’t wait to see what’s next! https://t.co/7ndZ2xbqp3

Happy # Zelda35ste! Let’s remember how happy we were when this Breath of the Wild trailer fell and we realized that the game would appear in two months pic.twitter.com/q724MkaZsm

It is now very important to remember that we are still in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and that plans have obviously been affected by it. Another important thing / date to consider is March 31, 2021. This seems to be the date on which the Super Mario Bros. celebration of the 35th anniversary ends. It’s also the time that Super Mario 3D All-Stars will apparently be removed from the Nintendo eShop and when Super Mario Bros. 35 becomes unplayable. It could very well be that Nintendo is waiting for Mario’s party to end before jumping into one for The Legend of Zelda. That said, it should also be mentioned that 2021 is the 35th anniversary of Metroid and the already teased 25th anniversary of Pokémon, which falls on February 27, 2021. Do we get a Nintendo Direct theme to celebrate Pokémon this week? Will we hear more of the expected Metroid Prime 4 this year? Only time will tell.
If we look at Nintendo’s past, it did not always celebrate a franchise anniversary on the exact date. For example, The Legend of Zelda’s 30th anniversary was only revealed around September 2016, when it came to light that special Zelda amiibo was on the way and that Skyward Sword was available in the Wii U eShop.
Although we may not know Nintendo’s full plans yet, or whether we’ve seen it before, The Legend of Zelda is obviously very important to them and remains so, given the expectation for the sequel to Breath of the Wild. But for now, everyone is celebrating The Legend of Zelda’s significant anniversary, and we hope to celebrate another 35 years and beyond.
