Verzuz / Apple Music
R. Kelly was present during the Isley Brothers’ musical showdown with Earth, Wind & Fire – or he was in the spirit anyway, because the shameful singer’s music was part of the IB set.
Ron and Ernie Isley confronted three members of EW&F on Sunday night in a much-anticipated “Verzuz” fight – with none other than Steve Harvey presents in a lavish Easter outing.
Everything went smoothly, and each group took turns turning back and forth to perform some of their biggest hits. It was great … that is, until Ron and Ernie decided to start crowning some of their later tracks from the 2000s, including a number of R. Kelly tracks that he produced / wrote or in which he appeared, such as’ Contagious ‘and’ Busted ‘. “
They first did ‘Contagious’ … which many people who look at home were NOT happy about. Fortunately, the duo had the wisdom not to include the expressed verse of R. Kelly, which is scattered towards the end. Yet the man wrote and produced the whole thing.
Ditto for ‘Busted’, which did not directly show R. Kelly’s song … but was also written and produced by the man. Fans felt it was not good … for obvious reasons.
Remember, R. Kelly is currently in jail awaiting trial on several different criminal charges – both federal and state … which includes sexual assault, sexual trafficking, abuse of minors, racketeering, obstruction of justice and more. He is pleaded not guilty on all the charges.
It’s clear he does not have much benevolence left among music lovers, past or present – the only question … do the Isleys care ??? They looked pretty comfortable up there with the Kels cuts.
