Iowa Governor Expands COVID-19 Public Health Proclamation

DES MOINES, Iowa (KTIV) – The Iowa government, Kim Reynolds, has signed a new public health disaster proclamation extending regulatory relief for another 30 days to those at the forefront of COVID-19 recovery.

Earlier in February, the governor relaxed most of the restrictions in the state she set up to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

The proclamation removed the mask requirement for those who spend 15 minutes or more in an indoor area within 6 feet of people who were not in their household. It also ended the mask requirements for those in government buildings and some businesses, such as barber shops.

The governor’s order also ended the restrictions on the number of customers in a business or a requirement to stay socially distant.

Originally, this proclamation would have expired on March 7, but Reynolds extended it until April 4. If the proclamation expired, the regulatory relief helping the state to fight the pandemic would be stopped.

The proclamation encourages Iowans, businesses and organizations to take reasonable public health measures in accordance with the guidance of the Iowa Department of Public.
