Update 2: iOS 14.5 beta 3 is now available again, this time via an OTA update.
update: Apple has pulled the third developer beta of iOS 14.5. It is no longer available from the developer website.
iOS 14.5 beta 3 expands to registered developers today and comes two weeks after the release of iOS 14.5 beta 2. iOS 14.5 includes a variety of new features, including the ability to unlock your iPhone with Apple Watch. The release of today’s third beta further enhances the new features and changes.
iOS 14.5 beta 3 is currently available via Apple’s developer web portal. It looks like it has not yet rolled over the air, so you may not see it via the Settings app.
iOS 14.5 beta 3
iOS 14.5 beta 3 will be available to developers soon via an on-the-air update in the Settings app. The build number for today’s update is 18E5164h.
In addition to iOS 14.5 beta 3, Apple has also released the third developer beta of iPadOS 14.5. There are no updates to Apple TV or Apple Watch yet.
iOS 14.5 includes a variety of new changes and features, including the ability to unlock your iPhone with your Apple Watch, which we discussed in detail here. iOS 14.5 beta 2 has made additional changes, including a variety of new features in the Music app.
The release of iOS 14.5 beta 3 from today is likely to improve all of these features. Except that Apple is slowing down to add new features to iOS 14.5, and instead focus on refinement. The update is likely to be released to the general public sometime in the spring, along with the privacy features of App Tracking Transparency.
