Interview with Meghan and Harry: Royals say they might consider hiring diversity chief

The news comes weeks after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan, told Oprah Winfrey that a member of the royal family – not the Queen or Prince Philip – had raised the issue of how dark their unborn child would be. .
“Diversity is an issue that is taken very seriously in royal households,” a royal source said on Sunday. “We have the policies, procedures and programs in place, but we do not see the progress we want in terms of representation and more needs to be done, we can always improve.”

“The work to do this has been going on for some time and comes with the full support of the family,” the source added.

The royals have always remained out of politics. Now they have fallen into Britain's cultural wars

On reports circulating in various British media that the royal family may appoint a ‘head of diversity’, the source said it was “something to consider”, but it was “too early” to make ‘firm’ plans to announce.

“Many measures are being considered. It is certain that the idea of someone to address this work and look at diversity / inclusion in the three households should be considered. However, it is still too early to announce any firm plans. “Listen and learn, to get it right,” the source added.

Harry and Meghan also talked about racist coverage in the British press during their bombing, which claimed that the head of the UK Society of Editors had resigned after refusing to acknowledge the problem.
Last week, Prince William told reporters that the royals ‘were very much not a racist family’, days after the palace said that – ‘while the memories differ’, the serious demands will be addressed privately by the family. However, the Palace hired an external law firm to investigate allegations that Meghan had bullied royal staff.
