A mixed-reality chapter that Apple is developing will be equipped with more than a dozen cameras to detect hand gestures and show real-world videos to people wearing them, along with ultra-high-resolution, high-resolution 8K screens eye detection technology, according to a person with direct knowledge of the device.
These are many of the features Apple is planning for the headset, a device that could represent one of the company’s most ambitious efforts to build a new technology platform. The app saw internal Apple images of a late-stage prototype from last year, in which a smooth, curved visor was attached to the face by a mesh material and interchangeable headbands.
