Intel hides a mysterious clue about its upcoming Xe HPG GPU in Teaser video

Intel recently had their GDC 2021 display and they teased the upcoming Xe HPG GPU for gamers with one sneaky detail: a cryptic mystery that is likely to provide nice information about the upcoming platform. Whoever solves it first will probably use the full power of the infinite stones stumble upon some juicy Easter egg.

Intel hides cryptic mystery in Xe HPG GPU teaser

The puzzle was first seen by Videocardz:

The Xe HPG preview starts at 42:07 in the video below:

For the sake of convenience, the two examples of puzzles we could spot (there could be more) are given below:

The 7-digit alphanumeric sequence comes first and the binary flashes a few seconds later:

  • 79.0731W
  • 00100011
    10100000
    11101101
    11010000

We tried to translate the binary, but it returns unknown characters in all but ASCII, where it returns the following: “# íД. It could be a coincidence and the binary could also have something to do with hexadecimal (Mars!) – or actually nothing – we do not know. The alphanumeric sequence can be one part of the larger puzzle or a separate hint in itself.

If the alphanumeric sequence is separate, it can mean many things. The 79.07 could be the TDP, and the 31W could refer to the launch date (or 31 week of 2021) which, when decoded, leads to ‘2 August 2021’ (tip for Videocardz to look up the week). It can also mean something completely different – because we are not sure as we said.

If you have any idea how to solve this mystery, feel free to post it in the comments below. The last company that wanted to put a tip in a puzzle was NVIDIA with their Turing graphics cards (which were teased in cryptographic puzzles) and most of them were solved within a few days. Unless this puzzle is more difficult, we’ll have to see the solution within a day or two once we’ve collective thinking.

Intel Xe HPG will be the company’s first graphics card and will likely contain 512 EUs or 4096 ALUs (cores). They will target the middle market segment, and prices should be really affordable considering what is currently happening in the markets due to cryptocurrencies. Xe HPG is going to be the trial run of the company in the graphics segment and will be the forerunner to have significantly more powerful cards if the trial run is successful.
