It’s New Year’s Eve, so chances are your Instagram feed is full of people sharing their annual top 9 year-in-the-ratings posts. If you want to do it to create and share your own Instagram Top 9 before the end of the year, you can do it.
First of all, it’s quite ridiculous that Instagram, after years of being so incredibly popular with the Top 9 trend, still does not have an original way of creating and sharing the year rating directly in the app. Instead, users are forced to rely on third-party applications to create their collages, some of which are less privacy-conscious than others.
Nevertheless, the Top 9 trend is back in full swing for 2020. While browsing through your Instagram feed this week, you probably saw Top 9 posts from friends and acquaintances. The idea is that these iterations outline your 9 best Instagram posts in terms of preferences for the year.
How to Create Your Instagram Top 9
Because Instagram has not launched an original way to create your Top 9, there are a handful of third-party applications that can fill the gap. The most popular way to create and share your Instagram Top 9 this year is with the Top Nine for Instagram app from the App Store.
The app will ask you for your Instagram username. Enter it and select ‘continue’. The app will then ask for your email address. If you have a dedicated “junk” email address, I suggest you use the address here (or you may enter something randomly).
After entering your email address, the app will generate your Instagram Top 9 roster based on your most appropriate posts of the year. You see a “Top Nine” watermark on your grid, but you can remove it with a $ 1.99 in-app purchase if you like.
Another solution is the Best Nine app, which is also available for free in the App Store. It does not ask for your email address and there is no watermark on the final picture. The advantage, however, is that it is quite an advertising experience of an app.
To share your Top 9 grid with Instagram, tap the “Share” button in one of the apps and save the photo to your Photos library or share it directly on your Instagram. If you save it in your Photos library, you can upload it to Instagram as with any other photo.
One last piece of advice: be careful of all apps that require you to sign in to your Instagram account. These top 9 images can be generated without that access, as you can see with the services we mentioned above.
