Insider indicates the likely launch timeline of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3

In recent days, there have been some conflicting reports about when Samsung will announce the foldable Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3. But now Ice Universe gave a clearer picture of the situation.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 may be announced in July

The tipster, who has provided accurate details on Samsung products and launches in the past, believes that it will only be this summer, more specifically July, the highly anticipated Fold 3 and Flip 3. This timeline aligns perfectly with another reliable report. Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) recently said that foldable display shipments for Samsung’s next-generation devices are on track to launch in May.

Samsung could launch mass production of the Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 around the same time, until a launch in June or July, according to the timeline provided by Young.

If the brand wants to launch to customers by the end of June, the next Unpacked event could possibly take place in mid-June. Otherwise, an announcement in the second half of the month or even July is more likely.

Note, Samsung has never held an unpacked event in June or July, but it would be surprising in 2021. After all, the company has already started adapting the launch program.

The Galaxy S21, for example, arrived a whole month earlier than usual. And if the next Galaxy Z Fold is considered, it is expected to be the first in early August, a revelation in June or July for 2021 makes sense.

What do the Fold 3 and Flip 3 offer?

When Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 finally hit the shelves, it’s not cheap. The current devices sell at $ 1,999 and $ 1,199 and similar prices are expected for the 2021 models.

The good news is that more affordable foldable models have been confirmed to be on the way, though exactly how much cheaper it’s going to be and when it’s launched is yet to be seen.

Back to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3, the latest rumors indicate the presence of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 in both. This chipset is the fastest on the market for Android phones and is already used in the Galaxy S21.

We do not know too much about what the Z Flip 3 will still include, but the Z Fold 3 offers standard 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage, in addition to a 6.21-inch external screen.

The main internal display is reportedly slightly smaller at 7.55 inches, down from 7.59 inches on the Galaxy Z Fold 2. The good news is that this year’s panel is likely to support the S Pen for the first time.

Samsung is expected to kill the Galaxy Note series this summer and the Galaxy Z Fold line can be replaced, at least in the premium smartphone segment, by offering a built-in stylus. To ensure that the stylus does not damage the fragile screen, Samsung is expected to use the second generation of its flexible Ultra Thin Glass technology.

Do not expect a great focus on the cameras

Cameras have never been the focus with foldable items, and this should still be true on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3. The latter may borrow the entire camera setup from the Galaxy S21, which offers a 12-megapixel main sensor and 12-megapixel ultra-wide, along with a 64-megapixel 3x hybrid zoom camera.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3, on the other hand, can use a less impressive variant of the Galaxy S21 Ultra’s camera setup. As for the selfie camera, rumor has it that Samsung may use technology on the fold 3 below the screen to create an even more immersive viewing experience.
