Ingenuity Mars Helicopter completes ‘spin test’, moves closer to flight

Plans for the first flight test of NASA’s Mars copter have been delayed after failing to complete a test last weekend, but now the team behind it says the spacecraft has completed a full-speed turn. As described in a blog post and video update, the team apparently took two approaches to dealing with the problem they identified.

A modification of the commands in the flight sequence was apparently enough to help complete the test while work continued on modifying the flight software of the Ingenuity helicopter. They tested the new software, but it may take a few days to transfer and load it, and the craft is currently located 174 million miles from Earth. A decision on what to do could happen tonight, and we may know the new test flight schedule as soon as Saturday morning, so keep an eye out.
