Indiana Jones game comes from Bethesda and Lucasfilm Games

MachineGames (Wolfenstein: The New Order and Wolfenstein: The New Colossus) and Bethesda are collaborating with Lucasfilm Games on a standalone Indiana Jones game, produced executive by Todes Howard, director of Bethesda Game Studios.
Bethesda tweeted to say “A new Indiana Jones game with an original story is in development from our studio, @MachineGames, and will be executive produced by Todd Howard, in collaboration with @LucasfilmGames. It’s still a while before we more to reveal, but we’re so excited to share today’s news! ‘

An original Bethesda post on Twitter features a video showing the word MachineGames, a Lucasfilm Games logo and the iconic hat and whip. A report from StarWars.com explains that the preview may “contain some clues”, but that the game will play “at the height of the famous adventurer’s career”.Apart from the company logos, the game will apparently revolve in part around Vatican City, with a plane ticket to Rome dated October 1937, and, like IGNs Jordan Oloman points out, a map with the Sistine Chapel on the desk.

No release date or platforms have been given at the time of writing, but one thing is clear – MachineGames will have many ideas on how India can dispatch Nazis.

Lucasfilm Games was announced yesterday as a recurring brand, apparently covering games from various developers “in the Star Wars galaxy and beyond” – this is clearly the “outside” part. “Lucasfilm Games is now the official identity for all game titles of Lucasfilm,” reads a statement, “a name that encompasses the company’s rich catalog of video games and looks to the future.”

With Bethesda soon to be owned by Microsoft, it’s not clear if it’s going to be an Xbox exclusive (timed or full), but it looks very likely that the game will launch in Game Pass, and Microsoft wants Bethesda games first be better, or the best “on Xbox platforms.
