Increase your Xbox download speed with this setting

Xbox consoles accelerate the accelerator download speed while playing a game to reduce interference with its network features or multiplayer performance. Although downloads are currently faster than the Xbox in sleep mode, Microsoft will soon allow gamers to increase their download speeds while the console is still on with a new “Suspend My Game” option in the Xbox download manager.

According to Xbox Engineer Eden Marie, the bandwidth you use for games is interrupted under the “Suspend my game” option and makes your downloads work faster.

You can resume your game at any time if you decide to keep playing and leave your downloads in the background. Xbox Series X / S users can even use the console’s Quick CV to pick up at the exact moment where the game was interrupted.

Suspend My Game is available in the latest update of the Xbox Insider Program dashboard for Xbox Series X / S and Xbox One. You can Xbox Insider Hub Application from the Microsoft Store to join the Insider program to try out the feature early, but it will be launched to all Xbox Series X / S and Xbox One consoles in the coming weeks.

How to suspend games on Xbox to increase download speed

You can use the new “Suspend my game” feature if it’s available on your Xbox console:

  1. Press your Xbox’s button to open the directory.
  2. Go to My Games & Apps> View All> Management> Ropes.
  3. On the Manage Rope page, select “Set up my game.” The download speed of your console will increase automatically.
  4. When the download is complete, you can start playing again from where you left off.

Xbox Insiders used to try cool things like “Suspend my game”, but Microsoft is constantly adding new features to their consoles for all users. The latest monthly update adds a new one FPS Boost Mode raising frame rates for backwards compatible games on Xbox Series X / S, corrects some errors for prolonged disconnection of the controller, and more.
