IMDB poll reveals the most anticipated video games of 2021

The media base website IMDB publishes a poll of the most anticipated video games of 2021, with some results that may surprise fans.

Only a month into 2021, the video game has seen impressive versions such as Hitman 3 and Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game Complete Edition. However, there are many more releases on the horizon, with many expected. The online media database IMDB has released the results of a poll on the most anticipated video games of 2021, and some of the results may be surprising to fans.

Last year’s IMDB poll for the most anticipated video games for 2020 is included Cyberpunk 2077 at the top of the list, with several Game Award winners The Last of Us Part 2 come second, Ghost of Tsushima third come, and Marvel’s Avengers comes fourth. While the anticipation for Cyberpunk 2077 and Marvel’s Avengers was high, both games’ releases were disappointing for many fans. Hopefully, the most anticipated games of 2021, based on the IMDB poll, will meet the hype.

This year’s poll showed 1,507 supporter votes, with one title garnering a large percentage of the vote. PlayStation exclusive God of War: Ragnarok was named the most anticipated video game of 2021 with 360 voices. Although not much is known about the sequel to the 2018 hit game God of war, the events within the title and a short preview trailer led to a lot of excitement for Ragnarok. While developer Santa Monica Studio has promised a 2021 release date, the lack of trailers or announcements may indicate God of War: Ragnarok released later than expected.

Second place goes to another exclusive PlayStation, Horizon: Forbidden West, with 199 votes. As the sequel to Horizon: Zero Dawn, Forbidden West was announced in June 2020 with an extensive film preview and is expected to be released in Q3 or Q4 of 2021. The highly anticipated delivery of the Far Cry series, Far Cry 6, with 115 votes.

Following the top three places are Hogwarts Legacy at number four, Resident Evil Village at number five, and Diablo 4 at number six. While Hogwarts Legacy has only been delayed until 13 January 2022, Resident Evil Village and Diablo 4 will be released later this year. Surprisingly, the highly anticipated titles Gotham Knights, Halo Infinite, en The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, seventh, eighth and ninth placed respectively.

Some of the even more surprising entries include Ratchet and Clank: A Rift Apart at 18, which received positive fans for the announcement trailer and the demo trailer for the game. Other entries that were surprisingly low are The medium, which received only five votes, and Return, which received only three votes.
