Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds reveals that a last-minute text message saved his marriage to Aja Volkman and inspired his new song
His band Imagine Dragons teased the release of their latest single Follow You earlier this week.
And Dan Reynolds, the group’s singer, revealed in a TikTok video on Thursday that the song was inspired by the time he almost divorced his wife, Aja Volkman.
In the short clip, the 33-year-old singer says he was on his way to finalize his divorce when an SMS from his estranged wife ‘turned his perspective on its head’.

Reynolds’ TikTok shows him walking on a rural dirt road while wearing a thick brown jacket and a blue patterned shirt.
“Have you ever found a text that changed your life?” his captions begin.
“My wife and I have not spoken for 7 months,” he continued, quietly walking down the road, looking at everything.
The musician added that he drove to his law firm to sign his divorce papers and thus make it final.
But on the way to the law office, out of the blue, he received an SMS message from his estranged wife.

What a difference a day makes: But he got a text from her to sign the papers, and the two skipped it and went to lunch before deciding to reconcile.
“She said she did not need me to love me,” he wrote. “She loved me unexpectedly.”
So Reynolds and Volkman skipped to the meeting and met each other for lunch instead.
“It felt like the first date again. We put an end to the divorce, ‘he wrote when his wife jumped into the frame and wrapped him in a hug.
“Then this man got there,” Reynolds added as his wife picked up their one-year-old son Valentine.
Reynolds ended the video by sharing that his new single Follow You was written shortly after his reunion.

“Our children remain the most important thing in our lives, and we will continue to help their parents with all our love,” he said in a statement.
In addition to their youngest, the couple also share twin daughters Coco and Gia, three, and an eight-year-old daughter named Arrow.
They were originally married in 2011.
But in January 2019, Reynolds revealed that the two had reconciled with each other, and during the summer he said the two were attending marriage counseling sessions to strengthen their union.
‘I entered into relationships with this false idea that if it’s not all perfect and there are arguments, then you may not be with the right person. That’s just not how it works, ‘he told People.
Follow You and another single, Cutthroat, will be released on Friday, March 12, as the prelude to a fifth studio album for Imagine Dragons.
