Nile Rodgers said on social media on Sunday that his mother Beverly Goodman had died after an Alzheimer’s fight.
“My mother #BeverlyGoodman #RIP passed away today at around 06:00,” the 68-year-old musician tweeted on Sunday. ‘I blew out some of my first breaths with her and she blew out my last breath. My brothers and I will soon be in touch with everyone. Today I am lame. ‘
The New York resident accompanies the sad message with a photo of himself on his mother’s bed.

The co-founder of Chic started last week over the anxiety he experienced that he could not personally contact her for the holidays because she was hospitalized under strict medical protocols amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
“The saddest part of this #COVID holiday is not being able to visit my #mom,” Rodgers said on Dec. 23. ‘She’s always happy and entertaining even in the late stages of #Alzheimer. I have learned to redirect or not, so she is never uncomfortable with her memory loss. ‘
Rodgers told The Mirror earlier this month about his family history of the disease.
“Six family members had Alzheimer’s,” he said. ‘We’re talking about my mother who currently has Alzheimer’s. And my mother’s sister, my aunt, died of Alzheimer’s. And their mother, my maternal grandmother, died there, and my maternal grandmother’s sister – my great aunt – died of it. And her daughter also died from it. And my uncle too. ‘

Rodgers received condolences from his peers after the gloomy announcement
Rodgers told The Mirror earlier this month about his family history of the disease, saying he had killed six family members.
He told the publication about his work with the charity Nordoff Robbins and the impact of music on communicating with people.
“I believe the charity is doing the kind of work that needs to be done around the world,” he said. ‘I believe musicians are good ambassadors, and it’s a wonderful thing to be able to spread this kind of goodness and love all over the world.
“Being at the forefront is a very noble thing. I saw music coming through right in front of me. ‘
The Good Times artist received condolences from his peers after the gloomy announcement.
