Jamiroquai’s lead singer Jay Kay was forced to deny that he was one of the rioters at the American Capitol on Wednesday after he started tending on social media.
Twitter users noticed the resemblance to one of the rioters’ Viking horns with Kay’s flamboyant head covering he regularly wore while performing.
“Good morning Washington, like the head coverings, but do not know if this is my crowd,” tweeted the English singer on Thursday. “Stay safe everyone, J xxx.”
The heavily painted man has been identified as Jake Angeli, 32, a QAnon supporter and regular attendee at far-right rallies in Arizona.
Kay, 51, also posted a video in which he says in an exaggerated American compulsion: ‘Good morning world! Now some of you think you saw me last night in Washington, but I’m afraid I was not with all the frats. ‘
He then switches to his native British accent and wishes everyone a happy new year and thanks for the birthday messages.
Kay noted that the UK is under surveillance again due to COVID-19 and added: ‘The way we treat our animals, farm with them, put them in the cage, everyone else, we’ll just get it again and again. Hopefully we will try to learn our lesson. ”
