Illinois set a record for the third day in a row for the number of people vaccinated. The march took place when the state re-allocated the vaccine from areas with lower demand, to regions such as the collar centers where demand is high. The governor made it clear that the state was not accumulating reserves.

“There is no rainy day fund for the vaccinations. If we can push it into someone’s arm, we are going to do it right away. We are using as much vaccine as we can,” government JB Pritzker said.

But the governor conceded that organizations working with local health departments could hold doses in some areas.

“Sometimes those partners keep a few more vaccines on the shelf than they should. And so we just want everyone to put them out,” Pritzker said.

There were 1,279,772 total COVID cases, including 21,505 deaths in the state.

As of Saturday night, it was reported that 1834 patients in Illinois were in the hospital with COVID-19. Of these, 409 patients were in the ICU and 176 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.

Within the past 24 hours, laboratories reported testing 69,600 samples for a total of 21,172,007 since the pandemic began.

The preliminary seven-day positive test positivity from 4 to 10 April is 4.9%.

In Chicago, Mayor Lori Lightfoot said 1.5 million doses of COVID vaccine have now been given, with efforts focused specifically on vulnerable communities. Starting Saturday morning, the former grocery store Treasure Island on Wells near Lincoln Park will serve as a vaccination site, giving another 1,000 doses.

The site offers complete vaccination through the Johnson & Johnson vaccine before the single-dose shot is sent next week.

“Doing it tomorrow with the Johnson & Johnson and taking care of it in one day makes it a lot easier for us,” Hopkins said.

Since other states like California set dates to reopen, Pritzker is unwilling to commit to it.

“And I have never been able to give an answer because this virus is so unpredictable, but we are heading in the right direction,” Pritzker said.

To proceed to phase five, 50% of those 16 and older must be vaccinated with at least the first shot. The current figure is now more than 43%, but it could rise faster from next week as fitness expands.

And the additional vaccinations could help reverse the current upward trend in cases and hospitalizations, which must be stable before the state can fully reopen.

A total of 9,001,105 doses of vaccine were delivered to suppliers in Illinois, including Chicago.

On Monday, April 12, all residents 16 years and older are eligible to receive a vaccine in Illinois. Chicago will wait until April 19 to expand the qualification. Chicago residents are eligible to be vaccinated on suburban sites.

The mass vaccination site in Lake County in Grayslake is also changing from Monday. The Fairfield site in Lake County, Illinois, will become a thoroughfare instead of a thoroughfare.

The province’s health department said it would allow them to administer 2,500 shots a day instead of 1,500. Masks and social distance are needed inside the building.
