Illinois COVID update today: IL reports 1,249 new cases of coronavirus, 22 deaths

CHICAGO (WLS) – The Illinois Department of Public Health on Sunday reported 1,249 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 22 deaths.

IDPH reported a total of 1,856,696 COVID-19 cases, including 20,516 deaths.

As of Saturday night, it was reported that 1,265 patients in Illinois were in the hospital with COVID-19. Of these, 303 patients were in the ICU and 150 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, laboratories reported that 66,500 samples had been tested for a total of 18,136,253 since the pandemic began.

The preliminary seven-day positive test positivity from 21 to 27 February is 2.4%.

A total of 2,740,105 doses of vaccine were delivered to suppliers in Illinois, including Chicago, with another 443,700 doses allocated to federal government partners for long-term care facilities, bringing the total number delivered in Illinois to 3,183,805.

The IDPH said that the distribution numbers of vaccines are reported in real time and that the vaccine administration is lagging behind by as much as 72 hours.

IDPH reports that a total of 2,705,934 vaccine doses were administered, including 315,416 at long-term facilities. The seven-day running average number of vaccines is 79,140.

Illinois administered 79,266 doses of vaccinations.

United Center COVID Vaccine

The parking lots of the United Center will soon be federal mass vaccination sites, officials announced Friday.

As the state’s vaccine supply increases, federal, state and local officials have announced that a mass vaccination site COVID-19 of the United Center will open on March 10.

FEMA and the U.S. Department of Defense will take the lead in managing the site, focusing in particular on vaccinating minority populations that have been relatively slow to obtain doses. The staff of the arena is also experienced in handling large crowds and traffic.

Illinois residents who are currently eligible for the vaccine from each part of the state can access the website. Illinois seniors age 65 and older first have exclusive access to appointments, followed by all other eligible groups in the state’s vaccination schedule.

– Christian County: 1 70-year-old man

– Clark County: 1 60-year-old man
– Cook County: 3 men 60s, 1 woman 70s, 2 men 70s, 1 90s woman, 1 woman older than 100
– DuPage County: 1 70-year-old man, 1 90-year-old woman
– Kane County: 1 man 70s
– Kendall County: 1 female 60’s
– Knox County: 1 90-year-old man
– Livingston County: 1 80-year-old man
– Pulaski County: 1 70-year-old woman
– St. Clair County: 1 male 90s
– Will County: 1 man 90’s
– Williamson County: 1 80-year-old man
– Winnebago County: 1 80-year-old man
