Ikea’s big new gamer equipment range contains this strange wooden bench hand

In an ideal world, we will always keep a hand free to protect our precious toys. But for those times when you’re busy, Ikea has released a wooden hand of ¥ 129.00 (about $ 20) to act as a caretaker – one of dozens of new game products just launched in China. As Ikea puts it, the Lånespelare accessories (or the Gaming Hand, as we will call it) “provide cables, headsets and other devices that you want to clean up but still get within reach.” Klink, uh, handy?

Ikea’s Gaming Hand is part of the company’s recently announced range of gaming furniture and accessories, which they say have been developed in collaboration with Asus’ Republic of Gamers (ROG) brand. There are more than 30 products in the range, which includes everything from play chairs and desks, to mouse pads and a ring light.

The series is organized into six product families: Main Players, Outdoor Players, Match Games, Group Games, Uppspel and Loan Players. The Main Players family has a play chair of ¥ 299.00 (approximately $ 46) and a play bench of ¥ 219.00 (approximately $ 34). Outdoor games and Match play also include play chairs, but are more expensive at ¥ 699.00 (about $ 108) and ¥ 999.00 (about $ 155), respectively. Meanwhile, Uppspel is the product family you want if you’re looking for a game keyboard of ¥ 198.00 (about $ 31) to organize all your games, or a game loading unit of ¥ 599.00 (about $ 93).

Finally, there are Lånespelare, which contain a variety of accessories, such as a ring light of ¥ 249.00 (about $ 39) and a mouse bungee of 99.00 (about $ 15), and even a cup holder attached to the side of your desk is stuck. And who can forget this charming “multifunctional pillow / blanket” that, according to Ikea, offers everything from “lumbar support” to “a blanket over your shoulders”

The delight of the new range is not only the traditional Ikea affordable prices, it is that everything is free from the harsh brands and RGB lighting that often accompanies “gamer” accessories and furniture. Ikwa’s global business leader of workspace, Ewa Rychert, says this is part of the point of the new series.

“The needs of billions of players around the world are very diverse, while the existing supply is quite technical and is often considered masculine, although about 46 percent of the players are female,” says Rychert.

Ikea’s new range of games is now available in China. It will be launched in Japan in May and will reach the rest of the world in October.
