The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are very large consoles – in fact, the PS5 is the largest game console in modern history. Their sizes could make the purchase of a new entertainment center a challenge. But Ikea has a solution to help you: the company has created physical size guidelines in the form of similar boxes to help you figure out which cabinets and entertainment centers the new consoles can accommodate. The custom guides were taken down by a user on Reddit.
The spot cabinets have about the same shape as the consoles, with dimensions on the side. There’s also a great marketing copy on the PS5 spotlight to explain exactly what it’s used for: “Which Ikea media storage unit will be able to fit in my new, moderate, large console?”
The similar boxes look like they would be really handy. You do not have to drag your actual PS5 or Xbox Series X to Ikea, just to make sure it will fit in your next entertainment center. (The new consoles are pretty heavy!) But you decide whether to stand the consoles upright or vertically or lay them down horizontally. (I’m vertically in the team.)
