You do not have to drag your Xbox Series X into one Ikea branch to see if it fits in a specific cabinet.

When the PS5 and Xbox X Series launched last year, the players were amazed at their size. The comparison of Sony’s console with household items has a social media trend, while CNET’s own Dan Ackerman brought life size mockups its local Ikea to see how it fits into different cabinets ahead of their launch in November.

The Swedish furniture retailer has understood the challenges that people face with the next generation of consoles and has created its own virtual console units so you can see how it fits in different cabinets, as noted by one Reddit user.

“Which Ikea media storage unit will fit my new, moderate, large game console?” read the copy on the side of the fake PS5.

It’s fun to mock Sony’s massive PS5, but these virtual consoles will be very useful if you choose cabinets. The PS5 in particular is so tall – just over 15 centimeters high – that you have to choose wisely.

The company confirmed to CNET that the photos were taken at its store in Schaumburg, Illinois.

“The retail team saw the need to demonstrate how the latest generation of game consoles can fit into IKEA storage units, and three of our collaborators came together to bring the virtual consoles to life,” a spokesman said in an email.
