MADISON, Wis. UW Health has warned that just because one person has received both doses of the vaccine, they cannot see it safely.
The vaccine keeps those who have it safe, but that does not mean that vaccinated persons are not carriers.
UW Health’s senior medical director, dr. Matt Anderson, said experts are not sure if people who had the shot could infect others with the virus.
‘What we do not know at the moment is the weather in which individuals can be exposed and still carry the virus and possibly transmit it to others. ‘It can have a negative effect on one, infect and make other people sick, or two, that the person who then becomes ill, takes it to other people and contributes to a wider distribution of the community,’ said dr. Anderson said.
Even after both shots are received, a small amount of individuals can still become ill. If you have not taken the shots, but prefer to visit someone who has been vaccinated, it is important to stay socially distant and wear a mask.
Dr. Anderson said: ‘Think not only of yourself, think also of the person you are visiting, but also think broadly of the community. And think about how we continue to take precautions to keep the community dispersed. ”
