If the Seahawks trade Russell Wilson, Zach Wilson could be a good replacement

Nobody wants to trade Russell Wilson. I will never trade with Russell Wilson support. He is objectively a Top 5 fullback and through the first half of the 2020 season, he was the best quarterback in the entire NFL, according to Pro Football Focus. While this may be the case, the rumors that he wants to trade are certainly disturbing. In this video clip, I wanted to look at the case where Russell Wilson is being traded to another team – say the New York Jets – that the Seattle Seahawks need to take to replace him. In my opinion, if they could grab BYU’s Zach Wilson, he could be a good replacement for Russell Wilson and a perfect fit in Shane Waldron’s attack.

For those who do not know Zach Wilson, he was BYU’s fullback last season. He ended the season with a completion rate of 73.5 percent, 11 yards per attempt, 33 touchdowns and just 3 fumbles. Wilson was the model for major plays along with excellent decision making. Plus, his advantage with his ability to finish a text was striking to me on film.

Due to Zach Wilson’s meteoric rise from a relatively unknown outlook to where it is now, I think it will take a top-3 pick to pick him. I mentioned the New York Jets in the introduction and overall place 2 is about where I see him going. I know Russell Wilson “wants” to play for the Chicago Bears, but they simply do not have the draft capital to get the Seahawks high enough to pick a good quarterback like Zach Wilson. Again, I certainly do not plead that the Seahawks will trade him, but if they do, you could do much worse than Zach Wilson on a rookie contract in Shane Waldron’s offense.
