A list of calls Lee brought to drivers showed a marked incoming call from an area code in Washington, DC, on Jan. 6 at 2:26 p.m. day of the attack on the American Capitol.
Trump only called Lee’s personal cell phone shortly after 2 p.m. ET. At the time, the senators were evacuated from the Senate floor and were in a temporary lounge, when a tampered Trump gang began violating the Capitol.
The indictment managers referred to the call, arguing that Trump did not take sufficient action to eradicate the mob as the attack was developing and trying to provide insight into the former president’s mood at the time.
Democratic Representative David Cicilline, one of the executives, again addressed the call on the Senate floor on Saturday afternoon.
“There was confusion about the phone call I was referring to with Senator Lee, so I want to be clear about certain facts that are not disputed,” Cicilline said. “First, Senator Lee confirmed that the call was made at 2:26 p.m., so I added it to the timeline above. Remember that the vice president was just evacuated by this phone call for his own safety on live television.
