(CNN Español) – New variants of the SARS-CoV-2, cataloged as variants of interest, were identified in Puerto Rico, informed by the Secretary of the Department of Health Carlos Mellado López.
The officer ensures that the variants are being monitored by the DS epidemiology team and that, at the moment, the vehicles are protected against the three variants that are located in the Isla.
The new variants of interest identified as the Brazil P.2 variant and the California B.1.429 variant, these variants are summed up in the British variant B.1.1.7 which was confirmed in February.
Mellado López added: “We are busy monitoring cases identified in order to achieve effective form. The viruses propose to mutations, however, and have been correlated with the influenza virus that changes all years, which is why the SARS-CoV-2 virus is the exception ”.
The official aggregates that the case identified with the Brazil P.2 variant is a female between 40 and 49 years. While identifying Puerto Rican patients with the California B.1.429 variant, many cases are still under investigation.
