iCloud passwords Chrome Windows extension now available

Besides iTunes, Apple’s biggest offering on Microsoft’s operating system is the iCloud sync client for files, photos and email. Apple is now expanding its presence on Windows with a Chrome extension iCloud Passwords.

Apple quietly announced the extension to the Chrome Web Store on Sunday night:

With iCloud passwords, you can use the same strong Safari passwords you create on your Apple device, and Chrome on Windows.

After updating iCloud for Windows to version 12.0 – which teased the existence of the extension earlier this week, you’ll see a new “Passwords” section in the list of available services. Tap “Apply” to go down, a dialog box will open to download the tool in Chrome.

It provides access to the passwords you have created, generated automatically, or stored in Safari for iOS and macOS while using Chrome. Sync is two-way with new references you store in the Google browser, stored in the iCloud Keychain, so that it can be accessed on iPhone, iPad and Mac devices.

The extension asks users to ‘Select a saved password’ when logging in. The website and email address are listed below.

This Chrome password for Chrome passwords joins Apple’s only other extension for older Windows (7 + 8) computers: iCloud Bookmarks. Meanwhile, Apple is also offering Apple TV + for the Xbox. Our colleagues at 9to5Mac this year reports that music and podcasts apps may also be coming to the Microsoft Store.
