Illinois police said one of their troops pulled into the left lane after a traffic accident and turned on the emergency lights to help direct traffic to the right. A black Cadillac slammed into the troop’s truck while he was in it around 11:46

Police were transported from the scene to a nearby hospital. The driver of the Cadillac, a 20-year-old resident of Joliet, was also taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Traffic was diverted from the freeway at U.S. Route 30, according to a statement from Illinois State Police. The northern lanes were reopened at 15:45

A snowstorm pulled into the Chicago area early Monday and was expected to drop a foot or more of snow by Tuesday.
Illinois State Police said it was the sixth accident involving Scott’s legal accident involving the state police, and the second in two days.
