The latest recall covers certain model years 2016 to 2018, and additional 2020 to 2021, Hyundai Tucson sports utility vehicles. The vehicles have computers with a lockable braking system that can function internally and cause an electrical interruption. This could lead to a fire.

Tucsons with Hyundai’s Smart Cruise Control feature are not recalled.

Hyundai said on Friday that the recall comes as part of an ongoing investigation into the problem. The company said it was aware of a dozen fires but no injuries related to vehicles recalled.

Owners will be notified in late February to take their SUVs to a dealer, who will replace a fuse on the computer. They can enter their identification number at http: www.hyundaiUSA.com/recalls to see if their vehicles are affected.

In September, from 2019 to 2021, the South Korean carmaker recalled approximately 180,000 Tucson SUVs to solve the same problem. The company says corrosion can cause short circuits in defective anti-lock brake plates that can cause fires, even when engines are down.
