Hyundai Motor confirms talks with Apple for potential production of Apple Car

As we have heard more rumors about the “Apple Car” over the past few weeks, it seems that Apple is indeed in talks with car manufacturers to manufacture its first electric car. Following a report from the Korean website Hankyung, Hyundai confirmed that it is talking to Apple early on about the manufacture of its new car.

The original report from the Korean website alleges that Apple negotiated with Hyundai Motor to manufacture the long-rumored Apple Car. Hyundai will help Apple manufacture both of its electric vehicles and develop the special batteries that will power the Apple Car.

According to Hankyung, part of the development of Apple Car components takes place at one of Hyundai Motors’ facilities in the United States. The report also confirms what Bloomberg said earlier today that the Apple Car is still 5 to 7 years away as it claims the car will be launched in 2027.

What is more interesting and unexpected, however, is that Hyundai confirmed these rumors after the report itself. A company spokesman said CNBC that Apple is in talks “with a variety of global automakers, including Hyundai Motor.”

This is not the first time rumors have it that Apple will rely on partners to manufacture its own electric car, as the Cupertino company does not have the facilities to build a car. Last year, Reuters reports that production of Apple Car is expected to begin in 2024 with a “breakthrough battery technology” that offers longer range and also lower costs.

It’s still unclear when Apple will unveil the Apple Car, but it looks like the company is still working on it with consistent plans to launch it before the next decade.
