Beautiful things, which will be published on April 6, appeared at number one and number five on the list from Friday night. It was not the only seemingly inappropriate memoir that appeared on the list.
Disloyal by Michael Cohen, the former attorney general of former President Donald Trump, took second and fourth place in the “Chinese biographies” category. In thin air, by non-Chinese American author Jon Krakauer, has appeared on the list three times.
Amazon tells Newsweek that Biden’s inclusion was a mistake and that the company was correcting the list.

Although the book of President Joe Biden’s son was incorrectly included in the list, attempts to highlight his alleged business activities in China were popular among some conservatives. Unsubstantiated allegations of corrupt practices by Hunter Biden were strongly promoted by Trump and many of his supporters ahead of the 2020 presidential election. An investigation into the younger Biden’s “tax affairs” was launched by the Justice Department in December.
Biden’s memoirs were bought by Simon & Schuster in the fall of 2019, but according to The Associated Press, they were kept secret until Thursday. A description of the publisher states that the book gives an account of Hunter’s descent into drug abuse and his winding path to sobriety.
It could also affect other dark chapters in his family’s history. Biden and his late brother Beau, who died of brain cancer in 2015, survived a car accident in 1972 in which their mother and 1-year-old sister died.
Author Stephen King, one of a small group who read previews of the book, calls it a “disturbing and compelling readable memoir.” King noted that the book answers a question that Trump, while promoting the allegations against Biden, regularly voiced during pre-election campaigns.
“Biden remembers it all and tells it all with a sadness and a lot of amazing bravery,” King said in a release in which he announced the book. “He begins with a question: Where is Hunter? The answer is that he is in this book, the good, the bad and the beautiful.”
The president and first lady, Jill Biden, also took note of the book, saying “we admire our son Hunter’s strength and courage to speak openly about his addiction so that others can see themselves in his journey and find hope” in a statement issued Thursday.
In addition to Hunter Biden’s Chinese business transactions, Biden’s business activities in Ukraine have separate allegations of corruption. The allegations led to the first of Trump’s unprecedented two indictments by the House in December 2019, months after the former president allegedly tried to put pressure on the Ukrainian government to announce an investigation into Biden.
