Hundreds March in Center City to protest deadly police shootings on Daunte Wright in Minnesota – NBC10 Philadelphia

About 200 people marched through Philadelphia to protest the deadly police shooting of Daunte Wright in Minnesota.

The crowd gathered at City Hall and then walked through Center City on Tuesday night. The march was peaceful with no reports of quarrels or arrests. Philadelphia police officers followed the crowd to monitor the situation.

“Daunte Wright could have been one of us,” Joshua Katamba, one of the protesters, told NBC10. “It could have been you. It could have been me. He deserved to live. It was an unnecessary death and what happened like that was unsolicited.”

The protest was one of many that took place in the country on Sunday after Wright’s death. The 20-year-old African-American man was fatally shot by officer Kim Potter during a stop in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota.

Both Potter and Brooklyn Center Police Chief Tim Gannon have resigned after footage of the incident was released.

Gannon said he believes Potter mistakenly grabbed her gun when she went to her Taser. She can be heard on her body camera video and shouts “Taser! Taser! More coverage on the shooting, investigation and nationwide reactions can be found here.
