Huge dropout: New Vegas mod The Frontier removed by its developers

Fallout: The Frontier, a huge mod for Fallout: New Vegas, has been in development for years and was just launched last week. It has now been taken offline by its own creators because one developer allegedly put ‘animated pedophilic content’ on their personal artist accounts.

If you visit the mod’s page on Nexus Mods, this is the message you will see:

Over the past few hours, a lot of worrying news has emerged. We were recently notified that one of our developers, ZuTheSkunk, has put animated pedophilic content on their personal artist accounts. The items involved are very upsetting to the whole team and we strongly condemn them. ZuTheSkunk has since been removed from the Development Team and banned from our Community Discord. We will have a discussion with members of the development team to hear their thoughts on the current situation and to make our decision more informed. We have stopped production and are working on the mod to address the current events properly. More measures will be taken and a more detailed address will be posted soon.

The views, thoughts and opinions expressed in the mod and beyond are only from the authors who write them, and not from the organization, community or other group or individual.

I’m not sure how “the organization of the mod” and any “group or individual” can claim that they are completely unaware of the work “in the mod” done by their fellow groups and individuals. This is important because there was already criticism of the content of the mod before it was taken offline.

In particular, players complained about fetishized characters and one particular quest to enslave the teenager. Slavery was a theme in many official Fallout games, but there is a difference between portraying it and allowing players to enjoy it, as The Frontier seems.

On Twitter, said the mod’s official account reiterated their statement above, adding: “We will henceforth make changes to the Frontier to remove inappropriate lines and content. This will be our final build.” It is not yet known exactly what content will be removed, nor is it clear that ZuTheSkunk had anything to do with creating the content.

Ugh.
