Fold phone is not quite mainstream yet but Huawei’s new Mate X2 looks like it might just be real competition for Samsung’s Galaxy Z-Vou 2.

Announced via live stream Earlier today, the Mate X2 represents a major departure from previous Huawei folding phones. The company has moved from an outward folding design to an inward folding design that places the Mate X2’s 8-inch 2480 x2200 foldable OLED screen on the inside of the device. OOn the outside, there is now a secondary 2700 x 1600 OLED screen of 6.45 inches, with indoor and outdoor screens 90 Hz refresh rates.

The Mate X2 has the same basic design as the expensive fold from Samsung, although the Galaxy Z Fold 2 has an excellent 120 Hz reflexsh course. But Huawei neighborhood in some interesting ways.

The first major change is something I really wish Samsung had done. Op the inside, Huawei does not have a selfie camera, so there is no notch or hole-punch camera to distract from that big flexible screen. It may seem like a daring call to some – especially with the way social media is currently – but considering that you can still take a selfie with the camera above the outside screen, that means when it’s open your attention is so great, full screen experience, just where it needs to be.

Huawei said this during its live stream the Mate X2 has a small crease where the phone’s screen bends due to the designhowever with a clever engineer, the crease should be more wrinkled to prevent potential screen distortion. This size X2’s hinge is also designed to eliminate the gap between the two halves of the phone when folded, something Samsung could not do on the Z Fold 2.. The end result is a more compact body.

Another important difference is that the Mate X2 has a 21: 9 outer screen of more standard size than the super-slim 25: 9 screen used by Samsung on the Z Fold 2, which gives you more real estate if you respond quickly to texts or check notifications. These are all changes that make the Mate X2 easier to use every day, and serves to reinforce why foldable phones need more businesses to test design changes than they will ever become popular.

The size X2’s cameras includes a 16 MP exterior selfie camera, together with a four-rear camera module consisting of a 50-MP main camera, 16-MP Cine Cam, 12-MP 3x zoom camera and a 8-MP Super Zoom camera with a 10x zoom. It’s a fairly powerful photo-tool set, with Huawei’s 10x zoom reaching much longer than the 2x optical zoom on the Z Fold 2.

Unlike the Z Fold 2, the Mate X2 does not have a gap in the middle of its flexible screen when closed, which is a real step forward for foldable phones.

Samsung charged his flagship foldable with impressive specifications, but the Mate X2s components are not quite as high, with only 8 GB RAM and 256 GB or 512 GB storage, and no support for wireless charging. The Mate X2 can also be the last Huawei phone to include one of the company’s internal businesses Kirin 9000 chips, which were originally supposed to be after last year’s pension Size 40 Pro. Nevertheless, the Mate X2 is expected to still cost 18,000 RMB in China (about $ 2,785) when it goes on sale on February 25th.-It is almost $ 800 more than a Z-fold 2.

Hauwei says it will update the Mate X2 later this spring with its new homemade Harmony OS, but Huawei phones still do not support Google apps or services, which is a deal for people living outside of Asia. Bein between it, is it high price and unknown availability for the Mate X2 outside of China, although this device is a nice twist on the foldable phone design, Huawei’s technology remains a tough sell –especially for people in the US
