  • Huawei has announced a new big screen fitness tracker, Huawei Band 6.
  • The Huawei Band 6 is a new brand Honor Band 6, despite the separation of the two companies.
  • The new fitness tracker boasts a 14-day battery life and all-day oxygen monitoring.

A few months ago, Honor officially separated from its parent company Huawei, although the DNA that bound the two together can still be seen today. Look no further than the new Huawei Band 6, a fitness tracker that is essentially a brand new Honor Band 6.

Honor’s device was the recipient of one of Android authorities CES 2021 Top Picks Awards, and with good reason. The big screen form factor and the battery life of two weeks are striking features that do not appear too much in the budget-friendly fitness tracker.

The Huawei Band 6 offers the same large 1.47-inch AMOLED touch screen, making it much more spacious than a traditional fitness tracker. Despite its larger size, it weighs only 18 g. The Huawei Band 6 also shares similarities with the Huawei Watch Fit. However, the Band 6 is slightly smaller and has a better battery life.

A large suitcase provides space for a large battery. The Huawei Band 6 can last up to 14 days on a single charge with ‘average’ use or 10 days with intense use.

The fitness tracker has an all-day optical heart rate sensor and SpO2 monitoring. Blood oxygen monitoring throughout the day is usually something we see on higher-end health-focused devices, so it’s great to see Huawei include it in the Band 6. It will also warn you if your oxygen levels drop too low during the day.

It can also track your sleep and report your heart rate during sleep, sleep stages and breathing rate. Menstrual cycle is also here, enabling women to track their periods, manage their pregnancy plans, and more.

Finally, the group supports a total of 96 workouts. Six modes can be followed automatically: indoor / outdoor running, indoor / outdoor running, elliptical and rowing machine. Huawei says it can also detect 11 “professional” modes, including running, cycling and … skipping rope. We asked Huawei for more details to see exactly what this means.

Do not expect too many smartwatch features. The Huawei Band 6 can provide basic mirroring notifications, as well as a remote camera shutter and the ability to control your phone’s music, but third-party apps are not supported.

The Huawei Band 6 will soon be available in Graphite Black, Amber Sunrise, Sakura Pink and Forest Green, but that’s all we know for now. There is no word yet on pricing or availability, but the Honor Band 6 will be available soon for about $ 35. It’s possible that Huawei’s portable could start at the same price.
