OWN host Dr Laura Berman and her husband Samuel Chapman provided an update on her family just over a month after her 16-year-old son Samuel “Sammy” Berman Chapman was found dead after an accidental overdose.
The teenager reportedly died after taking a pill containing fentanyl, a powerful opioid used to relieve pain that can be fatal in small amounts.
On the March 20 episode of Journalist Ana Garciawatch podcast True crime daily, the couple called the opioid crisis the ‘other pandemic’ facing Americans today because they outline how their family is coping in the wake of such a tragedy.
Chapman remembers finding Sammy ‘on his back’ after aspiring on his own vomit. ‘
“I had to resuscitate my own son, or at least try until the paramedics arrived here,” the father explained, adding that he now had “terrible PTSD” from the experience.
Berman and Chapman’s two sons, Ethan and Jackson, is also working on the aftermath.
“One of them gets pretty nervous and is worried that he will die by accident because his brother did it, and the other one is aroused by all the murder you see on TV,” Chapman explained. “There is nothing for it but time and feelings.”
Previously, Berman, a best-selling author and sex therapist, claimed that Sammy bought the pill from a drug dealer on Snapchat.
