How to Watch the NBA All-Star Game: Time and Channels

The 70th annual NBA All-Star Game airs Sunday on TNT and ESPN Radio, live from State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

And for the first time, the NBA tackles all the events in just one night, with matches in court starting at 18:30 ET and the game itself at 20:00 ET.

Although the typical All-Star programming this year will be a little different, there will be no star power in court. Here’s what to expect when players take the field this weekend.

Usually, the All-Star Game is part of a larger All-Star weekend, bringing together the best players in the NBA.

This year, however, the court will see all the All-Star actions on a single night – including the game itself, a skills challenge, the three-point match and a half-time competition.

However, this is not all unknown. As in previous years, the teams will play an indefinite fourth quarter after a final target score, meaning the game ends with a basket or a free throw.

LeBron James says it's a slap in the face to players to have All-Star Game

Still in keeping with tradition, the two teams will compete to raise money for their chosen beneficiaries. This year, the teams play for the Thurgood Marshall College Fund and the United Negro College Fund, both of which offer scholarships to students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

Who plays?

The All-Star Game’s two teams are led by Lakers titan LeBron James and Nets star Kevin Durant, though Durant is injured and will not play.

On Team LeBron are Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Bucks, Stephen Curry of the Warriors, Luka Dončić of the Mavericks and Nikola Jokić of the Nuggets as beginners.

Why is the NBA All-Star Game a runway on its own?

Team Durant’s frontrunners are Bradley Beal of the Wizards, Joel Embiid of the 76ers, Kyrie Irving of the Nets, Kawhi Leonard of the Clippers and Jayson Tatum of the Celtics.

Each captaincy team consists of 11 players.

How can I watch?

Those with a cable TV subscription can watch the game on TNT on Sunday, March 7th. The match will also be broadcast on ESPN Radio.

Online cable alternatives offer viewing options for subscribers who want to watch on their laptops or phones.

The skills challenge and three-point match will be presented at 18:30 ET, with the All-Star match starting at 20:00. The slam dunk competition takes place during rest time.

The NBA has written that the 2021 All-Star Game will be broadcast worldwide in more than 50 languages and will reach fans in 215 countries and territories.
